Just heard from OH. I don't think it is very good news really. He hasn't been sick, so that is good news. However, he was really reluctant to eat, and that just is not Tai. It is now 24 hours after the anaesthetic - I have experienced of tens of dogs having anaesthetic, and they have always recovered within a very short time, even the old ones. He is as groggy and wobbly on his feet now as he was last night. OH took him for a short walk round his favourite place, and he just did not want to go.

However, it may be the anti-emetic having this effect, or the drug to soothe the ulcers in his stomach, so I suppose it is too early to panic.

I am thinking that the cardiac arrest he suffered was caused by an excessive amount of anaesthetic. Northern breeds in particular do not respond well to GA, and I am just wondering whether we are looking at some sort of organ damage due to the GA. Not that I would blame the vet for this, he is an old dog and we would never be able to prove it, so I would not raise it in the first place unless it was obvious.

Let us hope he keeps his dinner down tonight.

sorry it's not better news.

Don't panic yet. When kyiro has an anesthetic he takes 48hrs before he will eat drink or go to the toilet he just keeps crying during that time and looking distressed. He is not good with the anesthetic either and stays wobbly and disorientated for at least 48hrs
Tai has not been sick which is the main thing so try to remain positive for now.

Lots of positive vibes still coming your way from here.

Thanks for the update Nickki. Fingers crossed that Tai will pull through this. I know you are still so anxious but try and keep positive. The reluctance to eat and walk - well, he has been through an awful lot recently. All of the vomiting he did before the vets means that he has a fairly empty tummy and he has probably not got a lot of energy spare.

TBH I can't really remember what Max was like after his anaesthetic but the last time he was sedated he was really out of it for a couple of days.

Still everything crossed here. xx

Give him time yet Nikki, they are very groggy if not given propofol, and he has had major surgery, if that was us we would still be linked to machines using bedpans!!!
Lots of love, kisses and woo's coming to Tai from Tawneytowers
