Malamutes - according to AMCA, 10 - 15 years. Looking at the results from the Health Survey that was undertaken in the UK, the median is 10.8 years.

Australian Shepherds - according to ASCA, up to 12 years or more. Looking at the results from the Health Survey that was undertaken in the UK, the median is 9 years ( ).

However Mals only had a 30.8% response rate and Aussies a 37.1% response rate with only 14 and 22 deaths reported respectively (for the Health Survey).

Phew, Tobys says he should live a long and happy life, as he is not really into the dangerous (or dirty!) side of terrier life Plus as Yopungstevie said we take him for lots of long walks, so hopefully that should keep him fit enough to reach his expected 15 years.

Our previous terrier x lived till she was 13, she was still fit as anything but developed a massive tumour very suddenly which was dicovered to be eating away at her liver, she was not brought round from her op, as they could not remove the tumour and she would of been in too much pain.

Border Collie with life expectancy of 10 - 15 years, averaging on around 13. Although I lost one of mine at 15, and one at 18!

Average in vallhunds is around 14, however, the oldest i know of was 21, and in fact still enjoyed strutting her stuff in the show ring up to the age of 18 (she'd have a right tantrum if you didnt' take her apparently)

In German Spitz both kliens and mittels it's between 12 and 14 (erm, i make that 13!)

Sadly, average for Rotties is about 10yrs, way too short for my liking

My first Rottie, Brandy lived until she was 10.5yrs, she had to PTS because of a tumour. Kel is quite right, they unfortunately are prone to cancer.

I believe larger breeds in general have shorter life spans?
