trigger(prt) been to vets heart murmur

had to take trigger back to the vets today we was told when he had his booster a few months ago he a heart murmur, well last week he startedto cough really bad so got him in today, the vet has said his heart murmur is lot worse and he has got to go and have a heart scan to see how bad things are and whatmeds to give him. I cant stop crying he is my baby he is only 16mths old and seems to be going down hill fast. i feel so s..t. have to wait for the call to go and see specialst but haveto take him back monday so the vet can keep an eye on him unless he gets worse. not a good day

Im very sorry to read that Trigger has got worse - my heart goes out to you-I know how you feel about your dogs- yes they are our babies.

Aw I'm so sorry..the wee soul to have this so early in his life. You never know though these days they have all kinds of medications to help , it may not be as bad as you think.

I have been there and done that...... so i do know what your going through.
There are drugs they can give to sort out the coughing.
From my old girl, she started coughing and had a heart condition, it is when there is fluid building up in the lungs, but the directics make them pass more fluid, hence clears the cough.
An echo will help you to find out what stage he is at, and tell them what is the most effect drug.
Try and look at it as a way of helping him.
My oldie had dcm and aortic stenosis for yrs before we finally said goodbye.

Sorry to hear bad news about Tigger, and a week's a long time to wait to see the vet again next Monday if you don't see the specialist beforehand isn't it?! Poor boy, I hope you get that call from the specialist and he can sort him out quickly. I'm sure they can do more for him, he's so very young.
