I'm not wishing to sound horrible, but I really think your friend needs to get her checked out by the vet. She may have reabsorbed the pups and now thinks she's still pregnant, from the date this thread started she has now been with your friend for 66 days, plus was pregnant BEFORE she got her. Maybe she's getting bigger due to how much she's eating rather than pup??

I really would suggest getting her checked over, just to be on the safe side,

I will suggest this.....means yet more vet bills though and she has had to pay a lot since getting her.

It'll be a bigger vet bill if the bitch needs an emergency caesarian!

Why doesnt your friend approach the rescue for support if she believes the dog is pregnant and got that way during its stay there?

I agree, but given the dates, the tie would not have taken place whilke she was at rescue.

I would be seriously worried.. and surely the new owner of the bitch KNEW that there would be vets bills to pay when she took on a supposedly pregnant dog!!!
Vetrs bills would be the least of my worries.. The dogs welfare would the most important thing!

It would seem that if she is pregnant then she must have gotten pregnant AFTER your friend got her..

This is all very worrying. if she is pregnant and was before your friend got her she is far....far over due. she really needs to get the dog back down to the vets and have her checked over. if the pups are dead inside her and not removed there is a high chance the dog will die!!!!! you freind really must take this dog to the vets. Sorry and i hope this all turns out well

I can only echo what the others have said, she either has a belly full of dead puppies or she was mated after your friend got her.
