Well I enjoyed it, it certainly demonstrated the difference between working dogs in the real world and the over fed, over indulged , under exercised, under trained pets of tree huggers.

I enjoyed it. You have to remember that only extreme examples of bad dog handling will be used in the programme or else it would be fairly boring and you wouldn't get the 'light bulb' moment that makes you glad you watched it. The trainer did have a rather old-fashioned approach but he obviously thought a lot of his dogs.

I thought the dogs were fantastic . And the trainer was great too. He so obviously cared about his dogs (his "children") and he was an excellent mentor to the two young people who went to Africa to be helped. As he said it was about growing up and taking responsibility.

I wonder why dog bites have trebled in the past few years?

I felt strongly compelled to smack that stupid trollop of a girl round the head, what a horrid piece of work she was, lazy, rude, selfish, uncaring and disrespectful, the program would have been improved if she'd been trampled by one of the rhino.

Coz that would have been another series of Dog Borstal.

It reminded me of a cross between Dog Borstal and World's Strictest Parents. I didn't like all the methods, but I liked the man in terms of how he cares for the dogs and brought the kids into line as well as caring about the wildlife.
The girl really annoyed me, so spoilt...and the boy, it was actually interesting to hear some of the reasons behind a lot of the dogs/owners I see around here. Dogs off lead or straining and looking 'tough'. Glad he had a change of heart about not only the lead but bite training.
Looking forward to the rest of the series.

My other half doesn't live far from that lad with the staff pup. It always amazes me that they think they look harder with dogs that don't behave. Surely you'd be better respected with a dog that hangs off your every word?

Only watched the first 20 minutes or so and very disappointed in the BBC for airing this piece of crap.
  • Choke chains - being yanked HARD (I bet the prongs were hidden - or might appear later?)
  • Pack leader macho talk nonsense
  • And the two total idiot owners taking part

Big thumbs down from me - maybe I'll change my mind if I watch more of it later.
