The one about Endal was very moving.

Don't like anything with a sad ending like "Devon-a good dog" where the dog gets put to sleep at the end of the story for aggression.

I'm always embarrassed to link this list, but I've read a LOT of dog books. The ones I starred are my favourites!

I just re-uploaded it without "dog books" in the website. I think the filter might be a bit strong as a list of dog books is hardly a site with pet forums! lol

It was fictional, but the book 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' had me in tears, I read the book in my lunch hours at work and looked a right plum as tears rolled down my face as I read it, but it was a good book...
Also liked Endal, My Life with George, Walking Ollie and Along Came Dylan...

Whistle and I'll Come by Jean Ure
The Rock Dog Gang by Brian Earnshaw
Both children's books
Incredible Journey Sheila Burnford
Honourary Dog by Dora Wright
The little dogs laughed the author of which escapes me but it's about showing poodles and is very funny.

Surely 'Lassie' & '101 Dalmatians!' (ok I know they're children's books but...) Plus 'a dog so small' which describes perfectly the longing to have a dog...

Most dog books are way too sad! I've read the Jack London books, Shadow the sheepdog, Lad: a dog, Jock of the Bushveldt, 101 Dalmatians (not so sad!); Jack; Lassie of course!

Absolutely! That`s why I don`t read them. Three Men and a Boat has a rather jolly terrier in it though.
