I don't particularly like them. I use one occassionally for Rio when we are away showing in areas she doesn't know, as it gives her more privacy to toilet. I wouldn't use one for Dan as he's not the most sensible of dogs and he does just get to the end and pull. Long lines work better for him. I don't need one for Rogue either because she can go off lead. I certainly wouldn't use one by a road. I have had two fail with my last dog and wouldn't risk it near traffic.

Extendible leads are personal preference. Please don't argue about it.

LOL I get pretty tired of the "OMG FLEXIS SUCK BECAUSE XYZ" and usually the XY and Z are instances of people who are too stupid to even attempt to use them correctly and people who would find some other way to do something stupid if flexi's didn't exist. Like all the morons who let their dogs run out into the road on them because they were talking on their cell phone or some such thing.

It's stupid to blame a tool for the idiots using it.

fair point

but its all a tool, by design, that makes it easier for idiots to be idiots.

because it is 2 mechanisms away from the direct control of a human hand....button and pulley

Yes but should we then say it's a mistake for ANYONE to use them? Should we say everyone who uses one is an idiot? That's often the impression I get on this forum. Surely I must be a moron to use one.

Please show me where I said this???

I stated at the start of the post: I was only talking about people using extendable leads BY ROADS IN BUSY SUBURBS.

Oh goodie...caps lock AND bold.

First of all, I said "this forum." This forum includes a lot more people besides you. And it's a constant thing people post about on here.

Secondly, I DO use my flexi on sidewalks near roads in a suburb. So going with that, apparently you DO think I'm an idiot, even though you don't know my dog or my situation or what training I've done.
