Collars - memories of you

Not sure if this is the right place so please feel free to move it.

Its been 3 years this month since my beloved, gentle, funny Tess (Cragails Ain't Misbehavin) passed away unexpectedly during a routine spaying Op.
She was very much a SBT through and through and her character and love of life were second to none although we only had the pleasure for such a short time it was a joy. She was and always will be much loved, our lovely girl who was simply .................a nutter. The dog who on trying agility decided through the jumps was better than over, and the tunnel was a perfect place to take a rest.......and on trying flyball worked out the machine gave you one ball at a time whereas the bag of spare tennis balls oh so much more fun...and if you could not free them take the whole bag......I still on occasion find myself looking for her on walks, always a half a gallop behind her half sister Sal. And in the quiet times I swear I "see" her curled up with Sal still.

Going through her collar box, it gave rise to this (amended from a previous one I wrote when still raw) and well I thought I would share this with all of you.

Collars

Is there nothing left of you for me
of long summer days that used to be,
all I have is my memories of you
among my souvenirs.

A photograph or two,
the collar worn by you,
rosettes both red and blue
among my souvenirs.

A few more special tokens
rest within my treasure chest,
As I seek some part of you
among my souvenirs.

I hold your collar and count the memories all
and as my tear drops start to fall,
I find my broken heart
still among my souvenirs.

The space in my heart I gave to you, time heals still
in my head memories of you I find, Staffie smile, wagging tail,
happy walks, like snapshots of moments shared with you
among my most treasured souvenirs.

Aw Kazz. Thinkiing of you. Such a lovely poem.

My 2 boys have one of my princesses collars each, they say goodnight to her every night & 'jingle' her tags on the collars. Can't believe its been almost 5 weeks since she went to the bridge.

{{hugs}} to you xx
