A friend had a nest in her loft, she called someone out but they couldn't get to it (it was a very old house with strange roof design). They advised her to get something like a smoke bomb for insects from Homebase and chuck it into her loft to kill them.

Whatever you are using to kill them, I would chuck the hay out to be on the safe side. Good luck.xx
