I think it would depend on how it was sent to you.
I would presume something as precious as that would be sent registered, ie you had to sign?

If it is just sent normal mail, it would also depend on if she got a certificate of posting I think.

Give them a ring.....

If it was recorded Suze, then the sender should have words.

I was told by the p.o. when I sent a Christmas present of a painting that recorded still went in with the first class, just at the other end it had to have a signature.
Compensation was
Recorded Delivery – Up to 100 times the cost of a first class stamp
so currently "up to" £36.00

wow thats bad lol! id paid a lot more than that for it!!!

ive contacted the artist whos obviouslyas gutted as me as she worked so hard on it! - its totally not her fault and i feel bad for mentioning it to her but id hate any more of her portraits to get ruined...

so monday - im giving them hell !!

wouldnt mind - it was only the other day id had astand up row with the dude @ the post office as he wouldnt send something of mine in the post as it wasnt the correct packaging..... wouldnt have minded but he sent exactly the same packaging (and item) a few weeks before but i won..... i bought the biggest box going.... and it actually cost me less to send anyhow ha!

Suze, might be worth mentioning to the lady who did the portrait that the post office do insured mail, so it could at least be insured for what it cost you.
That way if there's any accident the full amount could be reimbursed.
