Safe online shopping.

I've found a really good deal for some Glucosamine, but I'm not confident the website is secure. When giving payment card details, shouldn't the address in the browser start - https:// ? Or is a padlock sign enough to be safe?
Thanks to anyone who can clear that up for me

I would prefer the https

http does not encrypt - just google it and you will be able to decide for yourself.

thanks, yeah I've been googling like mad, so far I'm not 100% convinced my card details would be safe. And there I was, thinking I was about to get a bargain
Hmm, a bit more research methinks.
