Dog Faecal Scoring Chart

Anyone see "Food Factory" tonight on BBC1?
iPlayer link-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01kdn7m

There was a short bit in the middle about dog food where they interviewed someone from Crown Pet Foods who make James Wellbeloved.

[BTW, JWB are owned by Royal Canin in case you didn't know.]

Apparently all pet foods must be suitable for human consumption (which I did know), not that you'd want to try them anyway

Anyway that's by-the-by.... mention of a canine Stool Chart was made, so I have found one on Google... The Canine equivalent of the Bristol Chart (for those of you of a nursing persuasion).
[Hmm.... would the dog version be the Bristol Rovers chart? ]

This is the Purina one...

Thought it might interest some of you - Merlin is raw fed and is probably about 1.5-2 most days. When he was on kibble [CSJ/Autarky], it was more like 3.5.

Yes I watched it, wish they'd done a bigger piece on it.

Daisy's on kibble, mainly Orijen and her's is a 2.

What are we like

If this was a chart for baby poo I'd think it was disgusting

Jin did no 4s on kibble, and no 2s on RAW, though the rare no 1. Only anything else if shes been over fed, over heated or poorly, none of which are common (thank goodness!)

There are a lot of myths about commercial dog food, which is why I always refer people here:

http://www.pfma.org.uk/

where it clearly states that the ingredients that go into dog food must be fit for human consumption; it also lays out labelling laws etc.

He seems to be the only dog who ever did well on it! Everything else we tried him on he'd do 6....

Spencers are usually 2s on raw although he gets the occasional 1. On kibble he's more like 3s with the occasional 4.

About time somebody wised me up on what dog poo actually should look like !!! What a great thread, and I'm happy to say, the first poo of the day is normally a No. 1 (here I go, showing off again, but it's truuuuuue), no. 2 of the day is usually a 3 and NOW I can be well happy with that thanks to you MM!!!

Based on those pictures, since Bailiie went on to AG, she only ever does 1-2's, never any of the others....
Thank goodness.
And, she only does 2 per day
