I was told by my vet not to take my puppy out walking on the road until after she'd had her Rabies vaccination, which she had at 14 weeks old. It might be different in the UK because I'm not sure whether a Rabies vaccination is compulsory like it is over here where by law all puppies have to be vaccinated by the age of 4 months.

Georgina was 9 weeks old when I had her and until I got the all clear from the vet I started her lead training by walking her round the garden and got her used to travelling in the car by taking her shopping with me.

You can take your puppy out but don't put her on the ground, you will need to carry her. A lot of people put their pups into bags to make the carrying easier. Puppies need to get out and about as much as you can so if you carry her you will be helping her socialisation.

Yes that's what we did Betty went into a bag and out and about with us, took her on all our usual walks but snug in her bag, saw dogs and people and cars and everything else just never touched the ground.

After second vac we took her on limited walks where not too many other dogs had been but didn't wait the 10 days it's a risk we felt was well worth it as she needed to know how safe and nice the world was as soon as possible and we now have a happy pup who loves dogs and people.

I took Keiko out in a rucksack everywhere I went when I took Honey out. He saw everything. Other doggies running around and walking. He was 16 weeks when I got him so felt that he needed to see what was around him as soon as poss. I didn't start walking him until a few days after his second vax but no grass or soil. He was on concrete and kept away from smells. It has done him good to be socialised with everything before he was allowed out. Altho he did get abit too heavy for me bless him.

Good luck x
