Christening Gown or Pretty Dress?

I need more help, I'm afraid.

I was all set for the pretty dress until I saw pictures of Geri Halliwell's baby in her Christening gown. I can't stand Ms Halliwell but the baby looked soooooooooooooooo sweet.

What do you think/what did you do?

my kids were older so chose their own clothes. we decided to let them choose if they wanted to be baptised. they were all baptised together and even chose their own godparents. It was a fun day. phil`s daughter came down from scotland and was baptised with them too.

I had a christening gown as did my neice & nephew.
But recently my godson was christened and he wore an England footie kit (as did his brother a couple of years ago)

I think you should go with whatever suits your little ones personality.

Probably not much help I know but I thought I'd stick my 2 penneth in

Personally, I would go for the pretty dress as I would bet any money you like that "christening robes" are overpriced in the extreme, like wedding dresses and other special occasion items. Don't be brainwashed by the hard or even soft sell!
Do what you are happy with and remember it's the content of the day, not the child's wardrode, that matters.

Christening Gown for me, but them I am a traditionalist, both my son and daughter wore it, still have it, and hope they will use it them selves for their children.

All my girls had their own christening gowns, which are now packed away in air tight containers for them to take with them when they move out, Kieran had a cream silk all in one suit.

My sister's twins wore pretty summer dresses last year, they looked lovely too.

My son wore trousersd and a shirt, I thought he looked lovely. he always looked like a real boy and so I just didn't want him in a gown.
I personally would go for a pretty dress, you can still keep that(I still have what he wore) and perhaps even get some more use out of it?!
Choice is yours though, go shopping and see what you like!
When is the big day by the way?

I would go for Christening Gown. You can have her in a pretty dress any day of the week, but since a christening like a wedding is special my choice would be a christening gown, especially for the pictures as it will make them a bit more special and be so nice to look back on.
