Small lump under arm

Hello all,

I've decided that I'm going to make an appointment to see the doctor.

Well I've half decided.

For about a couple of weeks now, I sometimes get a sort of an ache, which seems to emanate from under my armpit.

I've felt under my right arm and there is nothing there.

Under my left arm, there seems to be one or maybe two small (tiny even) lumps that I can feel with my fingertips.

At school, (many moons ago) we learned (learnt) that cancer starts off in lymph nodes, of which there are lymph nodes under the arm.

My doctor is a brilliant chap, you can walk in his surgery and tell HIM what you think is the matter with you and he never says "Oi, I'm the doctor, you're the patient" !

He says, "what makes you think that then "? then proceeds to sort it out.

Because I hardly ever need to go, I can't always remember what I want to ask and I always tell him that I've got my shopping list !

Now, here's the rub, do you think :

1. I'm making a fuss to myself over nothing.
2. That it's my imagination
3. Think that I should go, just to be on the safe side.

Regards

Jill

Go definatley. Always better to get things checked, you shouldn't leave things like this. Sounds like you have a brilliant doctor who will be pleased you have gone.

Get it checked out, then when they tell you it's nothing you'll be glad you went, otherwise you'll drive yourself mad thinking about it.

It could just be a fatty lump, my sister had one under her arm.

Yes get it checked out Jill, they usually give you some anti-biotics first to see if its an infection or something - they did with me anyway when I had one - mine turned out to be a fibroidoma or breast mouse or something like that. I had a needle biopsy but everything was okay but I still opted to have the lump removed and I have been fine ever since. (touch wood )

You should definitely goooooooo Jill. Don't want to scare you, but every time they go on about feeling for lumps they always include the armpits!!! I had one years ago, which burst as it was a cyst, and I was only in my 20's and you don't think about stuff like that, well I didn't! Please go, if only to put your mind at rest, I'm sure it's just cysts.
