Do you mean breeding them, whelping them, rearing them or owning them. Not being difficult, and even when we know which you want it may be that the book favoured by one person is written off by another. Also best say what breed.

For puppy training I found these two really good:

Gwen Bailey - Perfect puppy
Ian Dunbar - After You Get Your Puppy

Both gentle, reward based methods

The Perfect Puppy was the first book I bought. Then I bought some breed books which also helped.
