Would drive me insane!

Saw a lady at the park a few days ago and one of her dogs was blind so the other dog had a bell on it so that the blind dog could follow the sound and stay with them.

doesn't bother me either way, i have 4 cats and when they all have collars on (2 of mine keep getting the bl**dy things off) they always have a bell attached, its not something id go out of my way to buy for a dog, unless there was specific reasons for it though

My dogs have silencers on their tags to stop any noise so a bell would be a no-no for me. Dont want to warn those pesky rabbits we're on the prowl.

Alfie used to have one as he was so small he would ninja under peoples feet without them realising... lol

Now he has a metal tag and that tings off the metal loop on the collar so works fine. Also in the woods if he is off having a sniff I can always hear him running up to catch up! So if his collar didn't make a noise I probably would put a bell on him.

It was quite nice having the bell on tbh!

The "trainer" at the puppy class I went to (like 3 times) told me he shouldn't be wearing a bell as he isn't a cat and it will be very distracting for him.... yet at 12 weeks he was better trained than the ones that had been going to her "class" for ages

There is a basset hound round here with a proper "santa" sounding bell on!

I wouldn't put them on mine - it would drive me nuts listening to that all the time.

I use the jangling of their tags on their collar to help me determine which bit of undergrowth the yobbo's prowling under when I lose line of sight with him - similar thing really.

I think if they had a purpose its ok but i wouldnt put a bell on a dog for no reason. One of dads yorkies has a bell as she has no bark and we used to lose her a lot and lock her in rooms and the occasional cupboard

I usually just listen for the sound of Lola's collar tag so I know when she's caught up. But I have just bought on ebay a multi-coloured ribbon collar which has loads of tiny bells. So that's Christmas sorted
