Need help choosing doggie food

Had a discussion with my brother-in-law the other day who feeds his GSD on Dr Johns at £7.49 for a 15 kg sack which I thought was very (if not too) cheap, so I started looking into whats in these foods as I'm currently using Hills at £30-odd a bag. I was horrified to discover in my research that Hills carry out experiments on animals (see http://www.buav.org/campaigns/petfood/companies.html). I also discovered that a lot of dry dog feeds contains BHT & BHA which are known carcinogens, so I'm appealing to anyone who knows of any comparison research that has been done on dry dog food that shows any that are free of these, and are manufactured in an ethical manner, i.e. without causing unnecessary suffering to animals.
I have a 3 year old border collie if that helps anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi Slingo I feed Burns because it is free from additives..
I understand Arden Grange and Autarky are too also Fish 4 Dogs who have recently bought out a complete kibble with fish...all have websites if you look on Google

Hi Slingo, another Border lover here. I used to use Autarky for both my doglets but found that Pippin, the Lab, got quite weighty! He also suffered from Wet Eczema and dandruff (obviously can't say whether the food contributed to this in any way)

I have been feeding them both on the All in One food from Natural Dog Food Company for the last few months and the difference is quite marked. Pip is now alot slimmer, his coat is sleek and dandruff free and as for the unmentionable, I've not seen it for a good while (holding tight to piece of wood )

Hope this helps

I feed CSJ Champ!
It costs about £7 for a 15kg bad, and my dog is doing excellent on it.
