Blood in stools

Never ends with my dogs!

A couple of weeks ago, I found some blood in Roxy's stools. She wasn't straining and the poo was 'perfect'. It was fresh blood so I wasn't too concerned.

Didn't happen again until this morning and it looks like a bit of fresh blood and a bit of darker blood which tells me something might be amiss.

She's otherwise fine but picky with her eating, although the funny eating habits started when she had to get quite a bit medication with her food after her surgery in February. She now believes everything to be contaminated so proceeds with caution when given food.

Off to the vets tonight to see what they say. As 'lovely' as it sounds, I've kept the stool! They said they want to check her vitals are ok, especially given her history.

Hopefully something and nothing.

I know how worrying this is and you've done the best thing in keeping the stool. I hope she gets on ok and all is well.

Good luck at the vets and well done for thinking about taking her sample along. Do remember to put it in the fridge until you go though as it probably won't be sent off for analysis until tomorrow.

Let us know how she gets on.

I hope everything is ok with Roxy, fingers crossed it's nothing!!

As we're already talking about blood in poo I was wondering if someone could help me out.
Two days in a row the first poo that Ella did in the morning had dark 'skin' around it. I've tried to google it but for some reason there are no photo examples of poo with old, digested blood in it available and I'm not sure if she might have blood in her stool?
It's literally just the outside of the poo and it's much darker than the rest, though perhaps not completely black. Otherwise she's fine, eats normal, runs around and appears healthy. The rest of the day she poops normal coloured poos.. Am I just paranoid?

Oh flip - there is always something isn't there Fingers well and truly crossed here that nothing is found to be amiss, and cuddles for you because you probably need them!

Can do no more than agree with Bitkin here. Dogs! Huh! Worse than Kids!

You've done all you can to get this investigated properly. Good luck and hope it's nothing serious.

*as for 'keeping a poo'. I cannot surely be the only one who has picked one up bagged and put it in MY bag until I find a bin and then forgotten it for a while?
Fortunately my pooch only poos 'peanut sized' poos! But they are easier to get lost in your bag lol!
