just spoke to a vet nurse from the vets- everything was rushed earlier as he was being stablized
Hes not in surgery yet- he was to ill- they are pumping him full of fluids, have put a needle through his chest to relieve pressure with limited success- pointing to a twist.
They also tried to tube him to get the contents of his stomach out- though i have just informed them he hasnt eaten since yesterday.
he's on maximum dose painkillers and is still uncomfortable.
he will be operated on later this evening when he's finished having fluids pumped in.
The op will involve them untwisting his stomach and stapling it to the wall of his abdomen. Then its 3 days of praying he makes it as they usually expect them to relapse after 3 days.
his body is also in shock at the moment- when i took him in he had collapsed and i had to carry him half a mile to the car. he was cold and his heart was racing.
he's 6 and a half so middle aged and is healthy and fit in every other way so i just hope he can pull through.
part of whats frustrating is it wasnt food that caused it, he didnt show the 'usual' symptoms- only those of a normal bug..slight wretching and being sick of foam and hard stomach like he was tender..then all of a sudden he strtaed to drink loads and swell and then before we knew it he had collapsed
