I dont think you should ever stop socialising your dog if thats what it enjoys but I think there should come a time (the earlier the better) in a dogs life where the owner insists that more attention is paid to them rather than other dogs/people.

After all, ultimately you are the most important thing in your dogs life, the dog across the other side if the park isnt, and I would want the dogs behaviour to reflect that (not that i'm egotistical or anything!)

I think socialising, once out of puppyhood, should be an extracurricular activity for a dog, not it's God given right.

Rightly or wrongly, although I want a sociable dog, I actively discourage it and do not allow my dogs to socialise when they want. It may not always be practical or desirable.

She is an enticing wee dog - it takes a lot to remove Copper's focus on THE BALL

I agree though, a game of chase and a good run around is an excellent way to end a training session for the dogs!
