I cried with my first litter because I thought something was wrong, the way she yelled when the first pup arrived, the other 6 followed without as much as a grunt.

My OH cleans the kitchen from top to bottom when my girls are in labour, keeps him occupied while I help mum!

Good luck Emma, do you know how many she is having??

the scan showed 6, but she said that they were very close together and there could well be more so don't be surprised if a couple more 'pop' out she also said she could have them early, we have to go for a final scan on this thursday or following monday, (day depending on how big she gets this next few days), we are just hoping that they are ok, alive and free of cleft pallets and hairlips (can be common in staffs)

I know i will cry, i am to become a Nana, of course i will cry!!!

Rails!!!!! You NEEEEED rails!!!!!!

A liitle 'shelf' about 6 inches up from the floor, the whole way around . This avoids any pups getting squashed and killed by accident, by mum leaning/laying on them.

VERY important - I have seen MANY pups die this way.

Otherwise, looks GREAT!

I know what Pig Rails are Sammy, it's just that not everyone uses them, i am running a opinion pole in general at the moment to get everyones views on it.

what i did i bought some broom handles (really cheap) and cut it to size just to slot in if we needed it , but we didn't in fact my bitch was very cross that we had put them there as the pups kept sleeping under them and she couldn't get them out at feeding time

I used to put rails round but often the bitches sat on them and I have had puppies squashed against mum and the rails so now I don't bother, I just keep watch all the time day and night.
