About that cross on the wall in the first picture. We are Protestents, but the people who sold us the house were Catholics (as most of our town is, we actually had the priest come to our door and ask why we weren't attending Mass
you could say he left a little bit embarressed 
) and they left the cross on the wall. Well we've been living here for 2 years now, and we can't get the courage up to take it down. Better to be safe than sorry.
