Well, he's here!
He's settled in amazingly well already. We introduced the three of them outside, then in the garden off lead and then brough him in the house. He's quite submissive and timid around other dogs, probably due to lack of socialisation with them. We'll work on his confidence and he'll soon be bounding around with Molly and Roxy and the rest of the gang at the park, I'm sure!
Molly and Roxy were surounding the poor wee guy, so they were told to leave him be for a whie, and they did. They were more interested in their granda when he came to pick Bobby up! Bobby was bombed out then!
He didn't have much to his name, poor soul. All he had was two toys, two bowls, a wee drop of crap food, and the lead and collar he had on. Obviously wasn't worth much.
Terrible to say that, but that's the impression I got last night. He didn't even come with any combs or brushes, and his fur is quite long.
He doesn't have a bed. He sleeps on the couch, which is fine by them, but a bed is good to have if there are visitors, so he'll be getting a bed anyway.
He's in need of a wee trim, so in the next few weeks he'll go for a traditional trim to the groomers. The list says hes fine with the groomers and can be touched anywhere. I would've trimmed him myself but I don't have the time, I know someone who'll do it anyway.
My granda phoned me last night a couple of times to let me know he was getting on great with them and the cats!
Thomas, the big ginger lump, introduced himself then went back on the sofa to go to sleep, Bobby then played with his ball with my granny. Flossy, the evil wee bitch (!) she is at times, disappeared upstairs. She eventually came down and stared at him through the glass door. She then came in, biffed him with her paw when he went to say hello, he backed off and carried on playing with his ball - and that was that really!
Thomas seems to have befriended him as they plod about together around the garden. So he's found a mate in Thomas.
He goes the back door to ask to get out as well.
He's fine with kids and and people, quite friendly. It's just dogs he's frightened of but we'll work on that.
So, all in all, he seems to be settling in really well. We're all so pleased. I tossed and turned all night thinking about him.
My grandparents are armed with a list I gave them for Pets at Home today. A new bed, decent food (James Wellbeloved mostly and their treat range, chews etc), grooming tools and toys.
I'm meeting them at 10am at the park this morning for a walk, which gives them time to phone the vets to get him registered. We're going to contact his old vets to have his previous details faxed through to them.
All going well, he'll be attending training classes very soon, I think he'll be quite easy to train as he seems responsive. He only knows sit and paw just now.
