Would say clean ears on regular basis and use a box of stronghold - one pipette a month. If it is a re-occuring problem, the previous infestation probably hasn't been eliminated completely. Sometimes when you treat for ear mites regardless of treatment, you think you have cracked it then a week or so later the dog starts scratching again. The initial treatment kills the 'live' mites...but may not touch the eggs....which when hatch will cause the scratching again.

Have heard about thornit....but never used it.

Thornit has been going for years and years, originally made by a lady dog breeder in Norfolk I think, and one of the best things for ears that there is. I have never been without some in the dog first aid cupboard, - sometimes the old remedies are the best. Kath
