Do your dogs ever ignore you at home?

Ivan has been sitting out in his box after being fed since about 8 this morning. I have called him twice and he won't come in. I don't want to force him if he'd prefer to be out there. But he usually only goes out for short periods and is in here with me most of the time.

He's not a dog that has to be with me all the time and doesn't follow me around. He usually lies in a doorway and you have to step over him. But he's still in and around. I have to say I'm feeling rather rejected.

Anyone else's dog prefer to be alone sometimes.

Bruce does this.

Quite often we are in the living room with the girls, and he goes in the kitchen (the door is open) but he lies on his bed, or sits on the window seat in the dining room.

If we call him, we can hear the thump of his tail, but he doesn't grant us the pleasure of his company

Yup, Murphy often does this as well!!

We'll all be cosied up on the sofa's etc and he will get off the sofa and go and lay on his bed in the cold, dark kitchen... there's no accounting for taste!!!

Yes my Jamie, especially now... he always wanted a little time in his own space... especially under the garden bench!!
But he seems to want to be alone even more at the moment, its as if he is grieving as he was the one of my dogs who adored Remy the most...

Diesel my Staffy will spend hours alone just sitting out the garden, sometimes I do have to make him come in as I need to go out. I think he just likes sitting taking in all the different sounds, he cocks his head to listen to the neighbours conversations, where as he can listen to me at any time

Monty will occasionally go and lie in the kitchen by himself for a while but generally he's in whatever room we are in. He will quite often lie out in the garden by himself as well.

I guess really they are just like us and occasionally need some time alone.
