My heart goes out to you on the loss of your beautiful Syd, but you did the right thing for him and saved him suffering. We never have them for long enough and they leave such a hole in our hearts when they go, but life wouldnt be the same if we had never known them.
Syd was a lucky boy to have such caring owners as yourselves. xx
