Replacement keys for laptops

Has anyone had to replace keys on their laptops and if so where did you get the replacement keys from? I need a G and H key for a Dell Vostro 1000 (don't ask) and no Dell don't sell the individual keys

If Dell don't sell them god know!

Maybe go to a wee computer shop that do repairs? They are usually better than the big chains for price and the wee odd things the big shops don't stock.

My o/h gave her laptop -a Toshiba - a cup of tea

We found a replacement keyboard on ebay and the local shop fitted it for £12-50

Might be worthwhile looking on ebay and asking a local computer dealer if they would fit one.

btw o/h only lost the spacebar on her keyboard - but now it's like new

Had a quick look on ebay (UK) New ones are £40 plus postage. Found one on there used for £20. Just type in "keyboard Dell Vostro 1000 laptop" or check on the american sight.
You will be able to replace the keyboard yourself you'll be pleased to know (no costly labour)
Here is the instructions from the dell website.

http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/keyboard.htm

You might just want to remove your keyboard and give it a good clean then replace it to see if keys work again. Chances are they are worn but the amount of dirt and biscuit crumbs that accumulate under the keyboard can stop the keys from making proper contact. Just worth checking before you purchase another keyboard.
