What about using some pressed flowers?

No idea if that will actually work, just the first thing that came to mind

Get someone else to spend a few hours flicking through it outside in the fresh air (assuming we have a dry day at some point!). or if you can't find someone else, you'll have to do it with a peg on your nose.

From about.com

De-Stinkify Your Book
Despite your best efforts, your book smells musty or mildewed, or just old. There's an easy solution... You will need two plastic containers--one that will fit inside the other one. Pour some kitty litter in the bottom of the larger container. Place your book into the smaller container (without the lid), then put the small plastic container into the larger container. Place the lid on the larger plastic container. You can leave the book in this book de-stinkifier for a month--to remove the odor (and any moisture) from the book.

Or like someone said get Dougie to read it outside!!!!

you could get a little bit of lavender and stick in inbetween some of the pages.

I have read about putting the book in a bag with a hand full of kitty litter for a few days ...
