Garlic good for dogs?

I was reading a leaflet that came with a free sample of science plan puppy food. It mentioned that you shouldn't give dogs garlic as it’s not good for them, however I've heard from breeders that it is good and also helps keep fleas at bay. Is this just marketing nonsense by Science Plan or are they correct?

Well I couldnt say 100% but my dogs have had garlic capsules daily for years and never had any problems, I am sure if they did any harm they wouldnt be on the market.

I've heard the same thing afc, I don't think its an old wifes tale it proberbally true as it makes alot of sense concerning fleas. I wouldn't rely on it though to keep fleas totally at bay but it cann't do your dogs any harm so anythings worth a try.
