Judy, Patterdale x, DOB 07.01

Judy, Patterdale x, DOB 07.01

Her Story Judy came to her family after she wasn't getting on with living with an elderly lady's 2 dogs. She was neutered young, never bred from. She has grown alongside an older child. Her current owner is seriously ill so seeking a new home for her.

Homing requirements Judy needs to be an only pet with people who understand terriers. She is used to free range access to furniture and beds and needs a home who accepts this of her. She can need encouragement off on occasions. She is walked on an extender and her current owners have never fully trusted her with dogs. Only pet home.

Advert Judy is an 8 year old terrier, black and tan with Patterdale in her parentage. She is a loving dog whose terrier ways are now difficult for her owners to manage with family illness. She gets 4 walks a week and is controlled via an extender lead. There have been no incidents with dogs and she really loves her walks, but the family are cautious. Judy has never been a problem being left for long periods with free range access of home and can like to stake her claim on the bed.

Judy is a terrier who just needs to be managed, loved and understood. She would love a home where she is understood and given a doggie life with regular walks and companionship. She enjoys her toys and car travel, but gets frightened with thunder storms. Lovely girl who is ready to move homes and can offer companionship and a great lifestyle. So if you understand terriers and they make you laugh ... Judy is looking for her family to offer them a smile and an active lifestyle!

***PLEASE NOTE: We are a rescue finding dogs their forever homes. We usually ask for a minimum donation of £150 at the time of adoption, for each dog, to help us continue helping homeless dogs***.

An update from Lynne:

“Met Judy yesterday as she was delivered into our care. We shared a lovely walk together though it was a very hot afternoon. I delighted in her lovely terrier inquisitiveness and cheerfulness. She met Harry coming back from his walk and she was comfortable in his presence”.

Judy is available for foster until her forever home comes along”.

Judy skips along with such glee, she enjoyed a paddle in the stream & a roll in the grass....

Not 8 years old - definitely 8 years young!

Judy had an hour out of the kennels last week with Roast chicken as her taster! Julie who is a dog trainer took her off whilst Lynne was homing. She said had she not her 2 terrier Judy would be the one she would have to take home! When Judy came back from her walk her eyes were sparkling.

She really is a lively girl.

Judy is currently in boarding kennels waiting for a foster or forever home.

Oh she has such a beautiful face... there is something special about this dog, im not sure what it is, but you can see it in her face. I hope she finds a loving home soon, If I didn't have all the animals I have I'd be snapping her up!

Judy has gone into short term foster to give her a break from kennel life. She is waiting for her forever home to come along. Here is some feedback from her fosterer:

"Judy is a gem!

Judy has come to stay with us for a few days holiday from kennels. We are having lots of fun with her. Judy is a very affectionate girl.

Don't let the grey muzzle make you think Judy is an old lady (my friends dog went grey at the age of three). Judy enjoys her home comforts and appreciates a cosy bed, or lap, but if you take her for a long walk she has lots of energy and will accompany you every step of the way with her tippy toe terrier trot. Loves exploring. Loves playing.

Training - Judy already has a high degree of training. She is bright, responds well to praise and has a high drive for treats and toys which would be a real asset for further training and bonding.

House training - So far this has been spot on. Joy of a grown up dog!

Travel - Judy loves the car! She was desperate to get in my car and hopped into the travel crate. It was an hour journey home and she was no bother.

Sleeping - Judy appreciates a cosy bed and is happy in a crate. We left a bed in the crate and Judy just takes herself off to it when she is ready for a nap, we can leave the door open or close it. She slept in the crate in our bedroom last night and slept all the way through without bother. She settles easily if I leave her on her own for a few minutes.

Food - Judy and our dog are about five feet apart in the kitchen when they have their meals and there have been no issues and Judy is not concerned about us being near her when she eats. Judy takes treats very gently and is happy to take treats at the same time as our dog with them sitting side by side.

Walking - Judy walks very nicely on a flexi and is responsive to commands. Loves walking with our dog, synchronised terries bumbling along together. Didn't take any notice of horses, sheep or cattle while out walking. Saw very little traffic but Judy wans't bothered by cars going past. Went past a couple of cats but Judy showed no interest.

Social skills - Judy has already met a few well mannered dogs which where both on and off the lead. She met them calmly and nicely with confidence. Judy loves people and has happily accepted fuss from strangers. She is very soppy like that. She is a confident, happy dog. On the way home we stopped at the dog groomers for Judy to be pampered. She was described as an easy dog, didn't try to get away when washed, no bother with hairdryers or noise and happy to settle in a crate while she was waiting.
While out walking we have come across a couple of dogs barking in their own gardens, but Judy barely even registered them, no reaction.

Toys - Judy loves toys and needs tough ones that she can chew and bounce. She can play on her own but really enjoys it if her family play with her. Too early for us to share toys between her and our dog so don't know how possessive she would be.

Off now for a lovely walk, really looking forward to it".

As you can see Judy was very relaxed in a home environment!

From her short-term fosterer:

"Her holiday with us is now sadly over and she is back in kennels so now looking for another foster home or a forever home. She is a lovely dog and great company".

Great walker this girl, but could soon suffer with sore paws due to her jumping.

She loved rolling in the grass!

We can't understand why she is still in kennels

nor can she....

Simply the best says Julie.. Judy and Julie are a must. Julie is a dog trainer and owns one of our Fell Terriers together with her Jack. She gives us Wednesdays to assist in anyway. Judy was first out with Sasha...

Close up and very comfortable

Sasha kept rolling on her back...then Judy decided she would join in and share the joke!

Judy wasn't bothered by the rain, but we are bothered that she is still in kennels

such a sweetie!

Julie walking Judy - such a special relationship...

Judy would really benefit from a foster home until her forever home comes along - are you able to help her?

such a sweetie!

The love affair continues with their Wednesday meetings ... Julie (one of our volunteer walkers & a dog trainer) and Judy

Judy what are you doing wasting your life away in kennels..you are such a pretty girl with lots of va va vroom! A terrier lovers dream dog.

Judy is currently in boarding kennels. She'd love some time in a foster home until her forever home arrives ... she'd actually welcome a break if only for a few weeks. Can you foster her? Could you adopt her?
