Off topic posts from Dog Borstal thread -Should schools have canine education classes

I think she might, she was smiling and obviously there is a huge change in him, so hopefully she can see where she went wrong and how she got to where she is. Hope for his sake.

Just slightly off topic,
I heard somewhere one out of 3 households have a dog in britian (don't know how accurate that is, because people like me have three, bumping up the numbers slightly for the rest!!) that's alot...
in school we learn science and languages... one out of three people are NOT going to become scientists or live abroad, is this not crazy. Should we therefore not have a canine education class, since so many people will be involved or at least meet a dog at some point in there lives. Perhaps teaching youngsters would help the future generation to understand the canine langauge and behaviour.

You don't have to live abroad to use languages...not in the days of cheap flights.
Studying science is essential to ensure we have future scientists...also essential for a broad and balanced education...it's not about how many people become 'actual' scientists, it's about using your brain to think in different ways...exercising more of the brain instead of just a bit of it...I'm sorry...canine education classes instead of science and languages...

yeah, but I can plan can't I !!

I live in an area where there are lots of kiddies about, and they all love dogs, and i do my best to teach them about dogs. Of course their interest is sparked when i show them all the tricks the dogs can do, and they want to know how I did it.

All this even though I detest children! But they are tomorrows dog handlers - cringe

Jess, do parents not have a role to play in the education and socialisation of their children. Personally, I always thought schooling was to further the education I gave in the first 5 years of their lives and continued to give and still do even though they are 18 and 26. If all else fails ask mum is their motto I think

Yah, agreed, but when the mothers themselves are very young, as in the case in Dundee, and they all have salivating staffs chained in the garden, what do you expect from the kiddies?

I have to say the time and money would be better spent educating children in the responsibilities of parenthood then
