As we've seen, having smaller dogs with the rotts does seem to put other people more at ease

.....go on, go on, go on

I have been thinking about getting a small dog for a while,, not for showing/breeding.... purely a pet.. that said all my dogs are pet first... if they make show dogs great if not great,,
I wasnt sure if I would be breeding holly early in 2009 so had held back, but its begining to look like holly will not have a litter for some time yet, poss late 2009 if at all that year

Soooooo I have been thinking of getting a small breed... one that fits on my lap with comfort... lol
the breeds I have thought about are

shiba inu
frenchies
boston terriers
pugs
JRT

...............................or poss a small rescue ..............

ooh, exciting (sorry about Hollie's litter though).

Not sure you should've said that about rescues, you know I'm going to be on the lookout for one for you now

so long as its small and likes being a lap dog,, bash on

ETA: I dont mind putting holly litter back again, she still quite imature at the moment anyway,
I would feel better with a few more on the waiting list, tbh, It will happen eventuly,
the other good thing about waiting is, I dont have all my dogs grouped together in age... thus years down the line.. I wont have five incontinent geriatric rotties all at the same time

I must admit I would find it quite amusing to see someone out with rotties and a JRT. I know a lady who has an English Mastiff and a JRT but she also has labs which make it less obvious!

That said, I will proably be going for a small breed next time as well as sticking to dallies (well it depends on my circumstances) so will look amusing with dallies and a mini poodle but hey ho!

God for it Shona, you know you want to
