Film 'Call of The Wild'

Anyone remember the above 1972 film with Charlton Heston and a GSD? It was a story about the 1897 'gold rush'.

Read the book! It`s far far better. It`s by Jack London and really captures the era. It will make you weep in places though.

Love the book as well, i am a huge Jack London fan. His book Martin Eden made me cry as it seemed very autobigraphical.

The dog in the book was a 'english Shepherd' but the KC had no knowledge of what this dog looked like so its anyones guess what type buck would of had. I did a huge illustration project at art college for the book, they formed the basis of my exhibition.

I have the book and the film - love both, and love the GSD in the film, he is gorgeous!

I also really enjoyed "White Fang" by Jack London - both the book and the fairly recent film with Ethan Hawke.

I do, read the book too, great

It was first done in 1935 with Clarke Gable although it focused less on the dog than the 1972 and the remake in 1997 does.

White Fang too, brill xx

I remember watching it as a child. One part sticks in my mind, did he make socks for the GSD so that his feet would be ok on the snow?
