Whoa, how did a vet euthanize without consent? So sorry for your loss, but this is not right.

No-one can take that decision Isla but you. Any vet can of course refuse to treat a dog as an act of mercy, strongly advising that the dog is euthanised, but they cannot enforce this upon you. That is not right. All they can do is to say in my opinion, this dog is suffering, and the kindest thing to do is to euthanise. However, we can keep her out of pain and try this this this and this. But IMO professional opinion, euthanasia is the best option because the dog is suffering.

This is what Helen said to me when I was faced with euthanising Hal.

She is so like my old boy, Sam. He too was a farm bred Collie. Such a love of life and full of mischief.

I lost him when he was 16 and he was the love of my life. I still miss my boy. It is three years now, but I know he was given love all his life which is all we can really do and remember all the good times we had together.

I'm sure your girl gave you just as much pleasure and received all your love in return

<hugs> - it really is so hard to lose them xx

You are angry - and that's understandable. It is so hard to know when the time is right. If it helps, I know in the past, I've been both too early and too late in letting go, but I feel better about the too early times, than I do about the too late ones.
Sleep peacefully beautiful Isla.

Very sad she's a cracker.

A friends dog has just been diagnosed with osteosarcoma in one of her front legs. She's just intermittently lame and the vet has given her 3months or so. For the bone to break it was pretty advanced. You are right to be angry if the vet disobeyed you.
