Albino dogs

I get the odd question asked if the boxers are Albino as they are white ,which of course they are not ....
Infact in all the white boxers i have seen i do not think i have ever seen a true albino boxer or any other breed come to think of it ...

A true albino dog would have no nose colour or paw pad colour right ???

In dogs the true albino gene usually results in a pup being born dead.
I know of a couple of All white Gt Danes with Blue eyes & one Collie, it's something to do with doubling up on the Merle genes, but unsure how it works (all these are also deaf)

I've seen pictures of a chi who was 'almost' albino, white with blue eyes, like a cremilo (unsure on the spelling of that one) pony.

Used to be an albino great dane in a local village he was all white with pink nose, paws and eyes. He had all sorts of problems with his eyes over the years poor guy was PTS at about 4 when it became obvious he was suffer more than enjoying life. If that is what happens to albino dogs then I am glad we don't see too many survive birth really.

Albino is total lack of pigment, I feel sad for that poor great dane, this is making me want to look into the genetics behind albinism...
