Happy Ending !

I was in Leeds for work the last couple of days and found a stray around 830pm in the evening on the main road in front of the hotel. He was a super friendly boy albeit a bit nervous at being lost.

I took him into the hotel and started making calls to the dog warden and checking Dog Lost etc, he did not have an ID tag but was wearing a collar. The dog warden service was not available for the morning so I had a lodger for the night.

I got him some food and water and the hotel gave me a blanket for him to sleep on although his preference appeared to be the bed. He had all the basic commands and was a very fussy boy.

Got hold of the dog warden in the morning who were coming to scan him in the hope he had a chip and we had a call to say they thought they had found the owner.

Turns out Jack is 12 ! He has been with his family since he was a pup and his owner had been out until 2am trying to find him. He couldnt believe Jack had ended up in the City centre as it was a fair way from his home.

Both were so pleased to see each other and it made my day to reunite them !

I did ask Jacks owner that he get an ID tag straight away as he could have had him back last night and that also it was illegal not to have one.

It was a nice happy ending and a pleasure to have Jacks company last night !

Hi Maureen what a good thing you came along and found Jack, had you not the story could have had a different ending.

So pleased it was a happy ending for Jack and his owner...

Thank goodness you took him in - it might have been a different story otherwise.

What a heartwarming story.

I was already planning how I could get him home with me as the dog warden initially said 'oh you can keep him if he has no chip ! I wasnt for leaving him as they dont have a no PTS policy in Leeds and wouldnt have taken that risk with such a lovely boy .
