Stena line kennels

Hi,

We are travelling to holland in August to see my mum and would like to take our puppy with us. (She will be about 20 weeks old).
My mum has a bungalow surrounded by little rivers and lakes and lots of open fields- I think she will love it. Our only concern is getting there!
Has anyone used the kennels on board the stena line ferries? (Harwich to hook of holland). If so, any views on them??
Thanks

Morning.
I expect you've read all the Stenaline info:
http://www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rou...a-pet/brochure

In case you haven't seen it - here is a link to the Stena Line Pet Travel VIDEO

http://www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rou...t-travel-video

You can see the kennels in that and hear from someone who has done it.

I think that sounds OK to me. But you have to be sure they've got a 'space' for your dog. Leaving such a young pup in a car for around 7hr you could return to a car with a totally chewed up interior!

We haven't used them for some years but when we did they were perfectly acceptable for the then 3 odd hour sailing and if you wanted a member of staff would accompany you check the dogs were ok.

I noted on their website that they say the facilities on the Holland route have been recently updated/changed - even from when the video was taken as I recall.

Shows the bloke they feature taking his little dog out on the deck. And the kennels looked perfectly acceptable to me.

We have done the journey with friends dogs left in the van and also in the kennels. I would deffo of chose the kennels if my dog had been with us. You can watch them on tv from your cabin in the kennels and can go and see them a bit easier.

Like that you can watch them on tv a d visit them!!
The alternative is to do do er to Calais using the tunnel, but then it is a much longer drive in the car.
Think I will book with stena line, it sounds like it wil be fine! Thanks, xx

Yes I think we have to go and see a vet between 24 and 72 hours before we come back. She has her rabies vaccine on weds ( for her passport). So I will go through it all with the vet then.
It would be lovely if it works well as we usually go a couple of times a year, and in the summer I like to spend about 3 weeks there when the kids are off school. I think she will have a great time once we are there, it's just the travel that is a bit of a worry first time round. No car sickness as yet though, so hopefully seasickness won't be a problem!! Xx
