A message from Many Tears ..

This has been posted on the MT site ...
For the past few months a number of people have been responsible for waging a coordinated, premeditated and wholly unjustified attack on Sylvia’s reputation and Many Tears Rescue. This vitriolic campaign is being conducted using the internet in a cowardly and anonymous way. Principally through spreading lies and rumours on various blog sites and chat forums, but we have also had the rescue centre vandalized and our web site was recently shut down after being hacked. The police are involved and we will be taking legal advice regarding the many libellous and highly defamatory statements that have been made. We believe this campaign and those responsible for making these defamatory statements are persons or groups totally opposed to Many Tears rescuing ex-breeding dogs and other dogs from this country and Ireland.
We have been advised not to engage online with these persons or groups and have tried hard to ignore all the hurtful and outrageously untrue statements being made. Unfortunately, this campaign is being widened has now taken a new turn and in addition to their previous defamatory claims, a number of further untrue and inflammatory comments and statements have been made and now supporters of the rescue are being approached and targeted and for this reason we are posting this statement. Nothing we have said or done to correct these people’s statements and their flawed interpretation of events has been accepted by those who are against our mission. They seem to be willing to disregard the law and go to any extreme in their personalised vendetta against Sylvia and Many Tears. All of these untrue claims and statements are being monitored and legal action will follow.
In the meantime, we continue to welcome anyone who would like to contact us or to visit Many Tears to reassure themselves of the true motivation for the dedicated work we do here at the rescue namely to save, rehabilitate and re-home man's best friend.

Lets hope they find out who is doing it. Recently there has been more action in cases like this so maybe it will be taken seriously and be stopped.

I know I have been shocked by some posts on here about them.

Well I do not wish them any harm but neither do I support them as they do not work with Breed Rescue (at least not the two that represent one of my breeds) so that specialists can find the right homes.

I think the thing that most people are opposed to are them being an easy dispose outlet for breeders, and dare I say it puppy farmers? I think it completely goes against the ethos of a dog welfare 'charity' to aid puppy farmers in any way shape or form.

I'm not saying they do aid puppy farmers - but one has to question the sheer volume of 'ex breeders' that seem to come into their possession.

Personally I would like to see people campaign and lobby parliament for change - rather than taking the law into their own hands.

Its okay saying something like this and i know its a view held by many, however if charities like MT didnt take these dogs, what will happen to them, they will be disposed of anyway and that "anyway" does not bear thinking about....

I've actually been to Many Tears and met Sylvia, I have to say I was impressed in the way the dogs are keep clean and by the staff that were dedicated.

Yes they have taken puppies from breeders and they have taken puppies/dogs from other avenues, like puppy farms, but then so did the rescue that took Reah.

If there were not rescues that took them what would happen to these dogs & puppies. The breeders that breed and then pass the ''pups less likely to sell'' onto them are the ones to be targeted IMO, Many-tears do not turn anything away. They have cats and other animals there too....which at some time or other were unwanted.

If I could rescue nothing would get turned away either, its not the puppies/dogs/animals fault that they are unwanted

Nor do the RSPCA in our area, nor the NAWT ( unless the dogs are unrehomable by them). Nor as far as I know does the Dogs Trust very often.

In fact I don't know of many who do?

yes - I have noticed this over a few forums.
I have wondered if it could be an attempt to take over the organisation. I saw a particularly strong campaign to make MT adopt charitable status. Having run a small charity, I am well aware that if you do this, the organisation is bound by law to hold annual meetings in which all officers can be voted out on a simple majority and others voted in.
So a group could have members `join` and take over all workings and assets.
I can think of no other motive for these attacks but would be interested to hear if anyone else has any ideas?
