Road Walking

I have been told by a firend and i have read on other posts that road walking your show dog is better than off lead?

Can someone just explain why? (it does sound like a silly question i know)

I'm not a show person but I was told that road walking helps build up muscle which is normally good for the show ring.

Well you wouldnt allow your dog off lead on a road, so it would more likely be in a field etc on grass.

Road walking is better for their muscles to tone them up and can improve pasterns and certain areas.

I don't show and do both offlead and road walking. Can get very dirty offlead.

lol of course i would not let my dog off the lead near the road!

Well I got told the same thing and posted a similar question about it. The guy who I spoke to suggested a 20min road walk a day only for Marius (who is 14months old next week) Opinions seemed to vary on whether people agreed with this or not:smt002 !

After taking everyones opinion on it, I now vary Marius' exercise between some off-lead play and some road walks each week. :smt002
