Optigen is the name of a company in New York. You have a blood sample drawn from your dog by your own vet, order the test online, print off the paper work and send the samples to Otigen, they extract the DNA.....with cockers they are testing for prcd-PRA, the DNA will prove if your dog is normal/Clear, Carrier or even affected. So although the KC scheme eye test can pass your dog, they can still be a carrier or even affected (early stages) Two clears produce only clear, a clear and a carrier can produce clear and carriers.

So with cockers it's a safe guard against PRA

Another company called Antagene in France are now DNA testing for FN in cockers (Familial Nephropathy) which is great news!

we test more for hereidary cateracts and Multifocal retinal dysplasia (MRD) .....
