Anaesthetic

My 2 are going in for hip scoring next Thursday. I know there is a special anaesthetic for northern breed dogs, can someone give me the name of it please? The vets say it is very heavy sedation and not full anaethetic, but are willing to order anything that is necessary.

They should be fine, it is a sedation rather than a full GA, and only for a minute or so. My friends Huskies were all done and were fine, your Vet will know if there were "issues" with certain breeds, I know Afghans and other sighthounds can be dodgy, I think the Vets use something like "Rapinovet"

Our surgery see a lot of Sibes and hip scores are generally done under sedation using a combination of two drugs, Domitor and torbugesic. This gives good sedation for positioning and taking the xray and once we are happy with the results the sedation can be reversed.

Rapinovet/propofol is a general anaesthetic.

have spoken to the vets today and she said that they had already written Domitor down, so that is a relief!
Just fingers crossed for decent scores now. Have told them they better have good scores or they will be off up the road with their little red and white spotted handkerchiefs holding their wordly goods (not many because they have chewed them all!!!)
