Dog lovers in new malden/south west London...?

hi again all

im not sure if im allowed to advertise to meet other dog owners, im sure ill soon get told if not!

Basically OH and I are very new to London and we'd love to meet some other dog-minded individuals and their dogs if anyone is interested? Were both friendly and our dog is a standard Xolo who can be a little timid with new dogs at first but soon warms up to them so long as they are friendly!

Just looking for some walking companions really and dogs to socialise our boy with.

Hmmmm.....well as there's no offers yet, I thought I'd speak up!

I'm nearby, I regularly walk in Richmond Park and I'd be happy to meet up and attempt a walk. However, being new to the forum you are probably not familiar with my dog's behaviour. My Cain does have some issues with dogs and strangers. That said, when carefully introduced we have successfully walked with several members of this forum. I keep him on lead and will muzzle him as a precaution if walking in close proximity to other dogs. I see your lad is a bit shy, so he might find Cain a bit bolshy. That said, Cain has several 'friends' who have issues with other dogs and they have worked out their own relationship.

Won't be offended if you don't think it would be a good idea, but if you're feeling brave sometime...give me a shout

(if you decide to go to Capable Canines agility class, you'll probably get a chance to see us there anyway).

hi there

Ive spoken to OH about it and we've decided we'd be willing to give it a go and see how things work out. Im not sure what Cain is like but Vodou gets very vocal when he feels unsure of himself and does bowl up to other dogs at a thousand miles an hour when he want to play, hes a bit bolshy but an absolute wimp at heart... Ive had occasions where hes run up to other dogs on chance meetings at the woods and they've thrown themselves on the floor and then the pair of them have happily played together. Then ive had occasions where hes run up to another dog (one occasion at the beach sticks in my mind!) and its attempted to attack him, and hes run for the hills barking like theres no tomorrow. He is a friendly boy at heart, his 'people' (dog) skills are just terrible!

If you think your boy could cope with him then we'd love to give it a go. He is generally fantastic on the lead with other canines, just a total idiot really!

You will definitely be seeing us at the agility club if you go in september time, as we've missed the boat for the earlier classes!

Ok great I'm always trying to make Cain new friends. He cannot handle strange dogs bounding up to him on walks and running away, but when he walks WITH a dog, he's an awful lot better I usually do some parallel walking on a short lead until he calms down and realises the dog is with us, then let them sniff, then give him a bit more freedom as the walk goes on. Normally it works out just fine. And if I think he's getting too worked up or is upsetting Vodou, I'd just simply walk away

I'm quite busy this weekend but could do another week. Let me know when you're free. P.s. here's a thread of Cain on a walk so you can see that he doesn't try to eat every dog he meets

hi, if you want to drive out to Dorking/Reigate direction then we could meet up.

At the moment my Toller is in season, so would have to be in a couple of weeks.

I have never heard of a Xolo, have you any pictures?

Moon's mom that sounds like a plan to me, and Cain is a gorgeous boy! There are some lovely photo's of the group walk you went on on that thread Vodou is still staying with my parents in sussex this week, but is moving up next weekend so perhaps the weekend after that if you are free?

EmmiS you're more than welcome to tag along if moon's mom doesn't mind but maybe after the first walk together so that we can introduce them properly and see how they interact together if thats ok?

Marianne38 If I had a car right now id take you up on it but sadly we are currently without an automobile here are some pics of my baby for you to see though
