It's the end of a very long first day. I'm sitting on the sofa with a glass of sparkling cave rose, with my dog at me feet. Life couldn't get better. Well it could, my husband could be home.

I picked her up at 11 am, and bought her home. She quickly found and subsequently destroyed her new toys. I fashioned a flert pole out of an old broom handle, one of my hubby's bootlaces and a thick woven knotted rope at the end.

We had lots of fun, about half an hour later and a poorly finger ( she misjudged the toy, so not her fault) she was tired, but still wanting to play. We went to the pet shop and bumped into some neighbours. Bina has a penchant for jumping up and putting he paws on the unsuspecting object of her affection's shoulders. When she is taller than the person she is 'greeting' it can be pretty daunting.

She doesn't like other dogs. I found this out after an encounter in the pet shop. A few sniffs, and we thought everything was going to be okay then a few seconds and bared teeth later..................
In the park the harness was a godsend, when an unleashed toy dog came running up to play, Bina was less than playful. That's something we need to work on.

After driving back to the shelter and signing the papers, getting my passport back and hers, she was finally and officially our dog. I can't tell you how happy I was on the drive home.
One thing I have found out is that she isn't spayed. I don't know what to do about that. Is it better for her to be spayed or not, I just don't know.

Okay so on the way home, and by the way she is so good in the car! She just lies down like a good girl.

Okay so then it was bathtime. Which was Fuuuuuuuuuuuun. I was wetter than my pup. who spent the whole time with her tail between her legs, and trying to dodge me to get out of the bath. This was after I gave myself a hernia getting her into it in the first place!.

Anyway, my bathroom smells of wet dog, and my wet dog smells of pantene!

So now here we are. She is in her bed (she did try sitting on the couch cheeky thing) by the side of me, and I am out of my sodden clothes an in my jammies.

I am exhauseted, but I can honestly say that I am utterly, completely happy.

She is absolutely stunning! I love her She looks to be settling in really well with you.

Do you have any friends over there with friendly dogs who you could walk with, and get Sabine used to?

On Monday I am going to take her into work with me. On our floor there is a swiss mountain dog who is so placid and so well behaved. I think what I will do is put the halti on Bine ( I tried it on her today with a treat, and will leave it on for a little while tomorrow) and introduce her to Sprockett, but take with me some ham so that I can distract her from getting angsty.

He won't be a problem, and if we introduce them and make it a treat time too, it may be that they get along. Other than that I have another friend who has a labrador we can go for walks together I suppose to get her socialised.

We're going to do 15 mins of garden training on the morning and 15 mins in the afternoon.

But for the moment she is fast asleep and twitching. I'm wondering if she's missing her daughter. It'll be the first night they have spent apart.
