Microchip

I took Porsha to the vets last week to get her kennelcough vaccine. while i was there the vet scanned her to see if her chip was ok as it had just been put in about 2 weeks before, and he couldn't find it, when he did it was down her left side near the top of her leg. Has anybody elses moved? i didn't think they could move. If she went missing(which i hope not) would they scan her down the left side because the vet had problems finding it.

Spikes chip migrated to just between his shoulder blades, I would imagine they would scan her all over, they seem pretty in depth when scanning strays, although I do know some places that dont bother scanning at all

its quite common traci for the chips to move a lot of dog classes will check the chips periodically I know that my vet checks the chips when my lot are in for check-ups just to see if this has happened if a dog is brought in lost they are scanned quite thoroughly to check for id chips

I've had problems with chips where they eventually aren't able to pick them up with the scanner!

Does it hurt them if it slips? Are there any future implications for health?

Unfortunateky, there are health implications
There is a dog on another forum I go on, her chip moved, and created a lump. She's had to have a lot of operations to resolve the problem, and it's still not 100% better yet
