Benton looking for new home, Rottie/Cross (Newark)

Hello, due to a change in our circumstances, we are looking to find a home for our wonderful 7 year old Rottie/Cross.

He is a very friendly, affectionate dog who loves people; and is extremely healthy (he has never been ill). He would be suitable for homes with older children (not less than five years old we would say due to his size), but not those with small dogs and other small animals.

He is extremely easy going and hardy, loves to travel and can be left alone for up to 7 hours. He is fully house trained, vaccinated and neutered.

Benton loves cuddles with his humans, and thinks he's a giant lapdog at times. Travels well, so can be taken on holidays and day-trips without a fuss.

Please consider giving this lovely dog a new home.

I'm sorry to hear to have to rehome Benton. Is there no way you could keep him? Do you have any family or friends who would take him on, even temporarily for you?

You mention that he can't go to a home with small furries or smaller dogs. is he aggressive towards smaller animals?

Are there any local dog rescues who could help you, at least with home checks if there is really no choice? Or maybe rottie rescue?

He's a rescue dog already, and was never properly socialised with other animals, so it's less that he's aggressive, just that he doesn't know he shouldn't play that rough with them.

We're exploring all alternatives, but would like him to have a good home if we can't give him that ourselves.

Have you tried contacting the rescue you got him from? They will know his history and will be better placed to find him a home.

How long have you had him? Is there a specific reason why you can't keep him?

We've had him for over 5 years now, and we adopted him from the RSPCA. He didn't have much in the way of history, and we think he'd been there some time before we found him.

Yes, there is a specific reason we are looking to re-home him, we love him dearly, and this is not an easy choice to make.

Its a shame U can't keep your boy but I thought the rspca had rules that if U can't keep the dog for any reason it has to be returned to them my friend had to sign an agreement

Just to make clear, the reason we're looking to re-home is nothing to do with Benton, but my Wife's disabilities have reached a point that we can no longer provide him with the adequate care that he deserves.

Benton is a wonderful dog, and it breaks our heart to have to re-home him, but his needs have to come first.

If he came from the RSPCA, you will have signed a contract to say you will return him should you not be able to keep him, i would suggest that you give them a ring
