My White German Shepherd

My dear Sascha developed nerve degeneration in her spine.

She was diagnosed after I recognised that she was "walking" a bit funny.

I took her to the vet.

He said that as the degeneration had come on so quickly, she would deteriorate fairly quickly.

He was right.

It was just 5 weeks since I noticed her symtoms until I decided that she need to go.

She stood up, but she couldn't recognise where her feet were.

It was a very hard decision - I could have got her a "walker", her front legs were fine.

But, she looked into my eyes, and those eyes said "Mum, it is time for me to go"

I took that great step - I sat on the floor with her, while she had that last final injection.

It broke my heart.

She has been gone for six months now, but I still cry when I speak about her.

I am so sorry for your loss, get choked up just reading that. Just remember all the good memories to get you through, and take it one day at a time.

I am so sorry to hear about Sascha You did right by your girl though.

It is a subject very close to my heart, as my GSD Flame scuffs her feet when walking sometimes and seems very stiff after a long walk

RIP Sascha.

Hi Moobli,

It is, the hardest decision of your life,

You want the dear one to be with you, but only you can know when it is time to let go.

Yes I made that decision.

I let her go, to who knows whatever?

I just really hope that there is a Rainbow Ridge.

She loved and trusted me - as she went, she just flipped a paw at me, just as if to say goodbye.

That memory stays in my heart.
