Thoughts? Thinking of getting another dog!

Hi All,

Have been discussing with Family about getting another Dog. Wife and Daughter are keen but I'm not sure I want to rush in to it.

Really the only 'condition' they have is that it be a rescue / re-home dog. My Wife loves BCs but I think she could be swayed to a GSD. Chanced my arm with '...how a about a Mali...' but that went nowhere...

We already have Lady, 4 yr old Lab X and I do working trials with her, so I would be looking for next dog to do that too, so I'd be looking for something about a year old - this would mean working two dogs in trials.

Both of them are up for getting another dog, as in today (!!!), but I want to take a bit time to make sure we're ready for it.

Anyway, just wanted your thoughts and what should we consider before going ahead?

PS Moobli - saw your pics of the 11 mth old BCs...tempted....

What is it that is holding you back, stopping you being 100% sure yourself?

Good question!

Not usre what's holding me back, but we lost our older dog a few weeks ago. I had always said that if we got another we wouldn't rush it and make sure it was right...I guess its more about being thoughtful and considered....

Then again, I've always said I would have more than one dog, and I only have one right now

i think your best option would to just be open to a new dog coming soon and wait and see if the perfect dog find you. they seam to do that

Go on ... go for it! I think either a BC or a GSD would fit in perfectly

GSD's are very popular in my area I have never owned one and if I was fitter and had the space it would be my choice breed I have a soft spot for them ever since I studied animal care and did most of my dog training with a really well behaved GSD.

Dalmations are great too.
