hairspray - the film

having seen the trailers both at the cinema and now on tv wondered if anyone was planning to go and see the remake or has seen the original. o/h and i will probably go.

I can wait till it comes out on DVD, but do want to watch it if only to see what John Travolta is like in it, can't imagine him as a women

I saw the original and my daughter is going this weekend with friends as a birthday treat.

Me and a few friends will be there friday to see it as soon as possible, the original is one of 'those' films. Although John Travolta trying to pull off the part Divine played right down too perfection doesn't seem as if it will work.
It's got big boots to fill with the form of the original and the broadway show

My daughter wants to watch this, she said it looks really good. Not sure if I share her enthusiasm though

I thought it was really good. I loved how they had John Waters, Ricki Lake, & the man who played Wilbur Turnblad [name escapes me!] cameo'ing in the film.
Really pulled off well, a real good feelgood dancey film Everyone in the cinema seemed to enjoy, and it was packed!

Is this the one with Ricki Lake in? I didn't like it.

That was the original, this is the remake. Much more based on the broadway show, which was based on the film.
