Barney, Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 08.08 - Tunbridge Wells, Kent


Homing Requirements: Barney needs a terrier home without live-in children and with patient understanding and the right approach as he can get protective over toys and balls. Barney needs a secure garden with exit management i.e. regime around opening front door and not leaving it open unattended as with any terrier. Barney could live with another dog and is playful. Outside owners need to keep Barney on an extender and be thoroughly sure he is safe with people and children making a beeline for him. He has been good with care with his fosterer.

His Story: Passed on via a free ad to a family with a 4 year old child. Incident in the first 2 days, previous owners refused to take back and rescue were tipped off via a vet as he had been booked in to be put to sleep. Now in foster with 4 other dogs and settling with each passing day. Now neutered & vax'd. Fostered in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Advert: Barney is a great Jack and just needs aware owners. Barney was a sad dog, but is settling in foster, has really come out of himself and is being positive and joyful. Having the same effect on his foster chums and he plays with a disabled Staffie. He has gone from being a scared visitor to a relaxed and comfortable housemate. He can get possessive of toys and would need to be enticed towards more appropriate items, rather than confronted. He also needs to be given space and be the one to approach. He sees an out stretched hand as a threat still and is a little hand shy.

Barney is a 4 year old Jack Russell with a sweet almost 'houndy' look, but his size is of a small Jack. A friendly boy who is easy to walk outside, a touch of nerves, but on the whole welcoming and friendly. Barney is learning to trust and enjoy life. It almost suits him to be other than an only dog so perhaps being an only dog put too much pressure on him. Time to enjoy life Barney!
